What Can I Tow? Towing Weight Calculator 2026
Find out exactly what you can legally tow with your current UK driving licence. Enter your vehicle and trailer weights for an instant legal towing check — including B+E licence requirements.
Do You Need a B+E Licence?
If the calculator shows that your current Category B licence does not cover your intended combination, you may need a Category B+E licence (car and trailer licence). The B+E entitlement is required when the trailer MAM exceeds 750 kg and the combined weight of car plus trailer exceeds 3,500 kg, or when the trailer MAM exceeds the towing vehicle's kerb weight. For a complete guide to who needs one, what the 2021 rule change means, and how to get it, see our Category B+E Licence Explained guide.
