How many hours of CPC training do I need?

You must complete 35 hours of approved periodic training every 5 years to maintain your Driver CPC. Training is delivered in blocks of at least 7 hours per day. You can spread the 35 hours across the full 5-year period — you do not need to complete them all at once.

What happens if my CPC expires?

If your Driver CPC lapses, you cannot legally drive professionally. Your driving licence remains valid for personal use, but you will face a fine of up to £1,000 if caught driving for work without valid CPC. To reinstate it, you must complete all 35 hours of periodic training again.

How do I check my CPC hours?

You can check your completed CPC hours online through the DVSA Driver CPC recording and evidence system. You will need your driving licence number to log in. Your employer can also check your record. Your Driver Qualification Card (DQC) shows your CPC expiry date.
