Why GS Driver Training Is Different from Every Other “Cranleigh” Provider

Search for “HGV training Cranleigh” and you will find several results. Most of them are national training brokers — companies that take your booking and then subcontract your training to a school in Hook, Farnham, or Guildford. You may not even know this until you receive your joining instructions. GS Driver Training does not operate this way.

We own and operate our training facility at Dunsfold Aerodrome. Our instructors live and work in the Cranleigh area. When you train with us, you are training with the people who know the Guildford DVSA test routes better than anyone else — because they drive them every single day.

Our Training Facility: Dunsfold Aerodrome, Cranleigh

Dunsfold Aerodrome is a former RAF and BAE Systems site located on the A281 in Cranleigh, Surrey. It provides GS Driver Training with a private, traffic-free environment where students can practise every manoeuvre required for the DVSA practical test without the pressure of public roads. The aerodrome has two full-length runways and extensive hardstanding areas, giving our instructors the space to replicate test conditions precisely.

Key advantages of training at Dunsfold Aerodrome:

  • Uncongested environment — students build confidence in vehicle control before moving to public roads, dramatically reducing the time needed to reach test standard.
  • Full manoeuvre practice — the 3A reverse exercise and 3B coupling/uncoupling can be practised repeatedly without booking time constraints.
  • Guildford test route access — the aerodrome sits on the A281, one of the most frequently used roads on the Guildford DVSA test routes. Students drive the actual test roads as part of their training.
  • Free parking — ample on-site parking for students arriving by car.
