Our Training Facility: Dunsfold Aerodrome, Cranleigh

Dunsfold Aerodrome is a former RAF and BAE Systems site located on the A281 in Cranleigh, Surrey. It provides GS Driver Training with a private, traffic-free environment where students can practise every manoeuvre required for the DVSA practical test without the pressure of public roads. The aerodrome has two full-length runways and extensive hardstanding areas, giving our instructors the space to replicate test conditions precisely.

HGV Courses Available in Cranleigh

Category C (Class 2) — Rigid HGV

The Category C licence covers rigid vehicles over 3.5 tonnes. This is the entry-level HGV licence and the most common starting point for new professional drivers. Our Class 2 course typically takes 5 days and includes all theory preparation, practical training at Dunsfold Aerodrome, and the DVSA practical test at Guildford. All-inclusive from £847 inc. VAT.

Category C+E (Class 1) — Articulated HGV

The Category C+E licence covers articulated lorries and is required for the majority of long-distance haulage and logistics roles. You must hold a Category C licence before upgrading to C+E. Our Class 1 course typically takes 5 days. All-inclusive from £1,197 inc. VAT.

Driver CPC — Certificate of Professional Competence

Driver CPC is mandatory for all professional HGV drivers. You must complete 35 hours of periodic training every 5 years to maintain your Driver Qualification Card (DQC). We offer both classroom and online CPC modules. From £350 inc. VAT for the full 35-hour block.

ADR — Dangerous Goods by Road

ADR certification is required to transport hazardous materials by road. We offer initial and renewal ADR training for all vehicle types and all nine dangerous goods classes. Learn about the nine ADR classes.

Minibus (Category D1)

The D1 licence covers minibuses with 9 to 16 passenger seats. Required for community transport drivers, school minibus drivers, and anyone operating a minibus for hire or reward.

The Guildford DVSA Test Centre — Your Local Test Centre

All HGV practical tests for Cranleigh-area candidates are conducted at the Guildford DVSA Driving Test Centre, located at Slyfield Industrial Estate, off Moorfield Road, Guildford, Surrey, GU1 1SA. This is the only DVSA HGV test centre in Surrey.
