Understanding the Driver CPC
The Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) is a legal requirement for anyone who drives a lorry, bus, or coach for a living in the UK. It was introduced under EU Directive 2003/59/EC and remains a requirement post-Brexit. Without a valid CPC qualification card, you cannot legally work as a professional driver.
There are two parts to the CPC. The initial CPC (Module 2 theory + Module 4 practical demonstration) is taken when you first qualify. After that, you must complete 35 hours of periodic training every 5 years to keep your qualification card valid. This periodic training covers safety, efficiency, regulations, and professional standards.
At GS Driver Training, we offer both initial CPC as part of our HGV training packages and standalone periodic CPC modules. All our courses are JAUPT-approved and delivered by experienced instructors at our Surrey training centre.
