What Is Class 2 (Category C) HGV Training?
A Class 2 licence — officially Category C — allows you to drive rigid vehicles over 3.5 tonnes, up to 32 tonnes. This is the most popular starting point for new HGV drivers and opens the door to thousands of driving jobs across the UK. Class 2 drivers are in huge demand for deliveries, construction, waste management, and general haulage.
At GS Driver Training in Surrey, our Class 2 course is designed for complete beginners — you just need a full car licence to get started. We'll guide you through the medical, theory test, and provisional licence process before you even start behind the wheel.
Training takes place on modern DAF rigid vehicles with experienced, DVSA-recognised instructors. Every course includes your DVSA practical driving test and optional D4 medical and CPC add-ons.
